Economies throughout the world are failing to provide an environment for all citizens to thrive. With vast and increasing inequality, the wealth disparity between the top and the bottom is causing climatic shifts and fissures in our communities. As many people’s abilities to provide dignified work for themselves disappears, we, as a society, have come to a breaking point.
Universal Basic Income (UBI), in one of its various forms, could be a building block in the creation of a new economy for all. By providing an income to support people’s basic needs UBI could be the radical change the world economy needs.
But how would it work? How should it be paid for? How has it been tested and implemented before? And how universal is universal?
Join Diem25 Mcr on January 31st to discover how UBI can change our world.
Diem25 is also proud to host the Manchester premiere of “The Manitoba Story”: a new short film documenting the long-term effects of the “Mincome” trial, a UBI experiment setup in the 1970s.
